Shipbuilding gantry crane is a specialized lifting equipment that works on shipyards, slipways, or platforms in shipyards to perform segmented lifting and flipping operations of ship hulls.
Due to the large span of shipbuilding gantry cranes, the gantry usually adopts a type of one side rigid leg and one side flexible leg, that is, one side rigid leg is fixedly connected to the main beam, and the other side flexible leg is connected to the main beam through a flexible hinge.
There are two types of main beams: single main beam and double main beam.
According to the requirements of shipbuilding technology, shipbuilding gantry cranes should have multiple functions such as single lifting, double hook lifting, triple hook lifting, aerial turning of ship sections, and micro rotation in the air, especially meeting the requirements for turning and closing of ship sections.
Shipbuilding gantry cranes usually have two small cars on top and bottom.
The upper and lower cars travel on their respective tracks, and the lower car can pass through the upper and lower cars.

The upper and lower cars travel on their respective tracks, and the lower car can pass through the upper and lower cars. - Equipped with a lateral movement mechanism, it can move horizontally separately to complete micro movement and micro rotation of the workpiece, and can accurately align when closed.
- Equipped with two sets of correction devices, an upper correction device and a lower correction device, to prevent the large vehicle from running in a skewed manner.

1. It have multipe functions of single hanging, hoisting, turnover in the air, slight horizontal turnover in the air and so on;
2. The gantry falls into two categories:single girder and double girder. To rationally utilize materials, the girder adopts
optimum design of variable section;
3. The upper crab has two main hooks, which are sparately fixed at the outside of the girder.
4. The lower crab has a main hook and a secondary hook, which are fixed at the center of the two girders;
5. Both the upper crab and the lower crab can cross each other for operation.
6. All operating mechanisms employ frequency control;
7. On the top of the girder at the side of rigid leg is equipped a jib crane to accomplish maintenace of upper and lower crabs.
8. To prevent storm attack, such safe and reliable anti-wind devices as rail clamp and ground anchor are furnished.
