Product Overview
The Rubber-Tyred Gantry Crane is a mobile, self-propelled gantry crane mounted on rubber tyres instead of rail wheels, giving it the ability to move freely across a yard and change lanes without a fixed track. RTGs are widely used for container stacking and general yard handling where flexibility of movement matters as much as lifting capacity.
Structure Composition
- Main Girder: Box-type double girder structure, engineered for the additional dynamic loads of tyre-mounted travel.
- Legs: A-frame legs mounted on bogie assemblies with multiple rubber tyres per corner for load distribution and steering.
- Steering System: Independently steerable wheel bogies allow the crane to travel straight, crab sideways, or turn within its own footprint to change lanes.
- Power Unit: Diesel generator set (diesel-electric) or, on newer models, hybrid or fully electric power supply via cable reel or busbar.
- Trolley/Spreader: Container spreader, hook, or grab, depending on the cargo handled.
